Dog Puzzles have become popular through social media, and we are on board, too! We love them for multiple reasons:
Our dogs love them!
They provide enrichment to our dogs that allows them to expel energy without having to be physically active.
It can double as a slow-feeder for those Good Woofers that REALLY like their food.
They are good for dogs of any age (for puppies, we recommend 12 weeks and older).
In case you wanted to jump on the Puppy Puzzle bandwagon, but not sure which one or ones to purchase, we have you covered. Here are some of our favorites:
This is the perfect puzzle to use as a slow-feeder since it holds quite a bit of kibble. It is considered a Level 2 puzzle, which is great for younger dogs. Our puppy loves this one too. It is also super easy to fill with kibbles. The only downside to this puzzle is that they bone bricks come off of the puzzle and can get lost if not careful.
This one was our first puzzle ever. Our dog, Odin (who is the master of puzzles), took some time to figure this one out. Now he solves it within 2 minutes, but he still loves the game and finding the hidden treats. Our puppy, Rhea tried this one at 14 weeks and amazed us at how quickly she figured it out. It is truly so much fun watching their brain work to find the hidden treats. The only downside to this one is that it takes a few minutes to fill the puzzle with treats.
This is another puzzle that is great for slow-feeding. It holds about a cup of food. The other amazing feature of this toy is that it is easily fillable with a board that pulls out underneath. This puzzle was more of a challenge for our dogs because of the consequential moves the puzzle requires. I always call this the "break the ice" puzzle because it reminds me of the game I used to play as a kid, even though the operations of the game are more like "traffic jam". lol. I can confidently say that this puzzle is my favorite out of the ones we own.
